London-based designer Helen Storey creates dresses that disappear. A series of polymer dresses is interesting in that when in contact with water, they disintegrate and gradually disappear. This fashion project is called Wonderland.
The designer has always been interested in the magic of the appearance and disappearance of things, which later inspired her to create such a project and suggested an innovative idea.
Teaming up with Sheffield University scientist Tony Ryan, Helen creates eco-friendly dresses made from polyvinyl alcohol. With her project called Wonderland, Helen Storey is trying to draw attention to the irreparable damage that fashion causes to the ecology of our planet. In Great Britain alone, about one and a half million tons of annoying pants, sweaters, suits and dresses are thrown away annually.
