Croatian photographer Ino Zeljak recently presented a series of unusual portraits called "Metamorfoza". Do not be surprised at the slight asymmetry of the faces: the author has combined two separate images in each image. Before us are “composite” photographs of relatives, looking at which you can see how similar brothers, sisters and even … best friends are.
There are many photographers who like to find similarities between different people. Bobby Neil Adams was one of the first to try to make collages from family photographs. He called his work "agemaps" and did them with scissors and glue. Ino Zeljak processes the images in Photoshop, so his "hybrid" portraits look more organic.
Among the portraits of Ino Zeljak, one can see not only photographs of mother and daughter or twin sisters, whose similarity is beyond doubt, but also images of brothers and sisters together. Perhaps most impressive is the portrait of two friends who are almost mirror images of each other.
It is very difficult to draw a "border" between faces, but, of course, most give out the contours of the lips, the different color and shape of the eyes, the cobweb of wrinkles that occurs with age. Well, it remains only to recognize once again that close people have not only kindred spirits, but also, as a rule, similar facial features.
