Until last year, the Ukrainian artist Ksenia Simonova was an unknown graphic artist living in the resort town of Evpatoria. But at the competition "Ukraine Got Talent", where Ksenia took part in the past 2009, the world-wide fame and wealth came to the girl. After all, it was she who became the winner of this competition and the owner of the prize of a million dollars. That is how much the talent to create sand paintings and to perform entire performances in front of thousands of audiences costs.
At the talent competition, the first number of Ksenia was a sand-drawn performance on the theme of the Great Patriotic War, dedicated to all who died in battle and did not return to their loved ones. And although at competitions of such a plan, serious, philosophical numbers rarely turn out to be "passable", because the audience is eager for entertainment, the audience applauded the artist standing up, and many wiped the tears that had come to their eyes. The audience fell in love with Ksenia and her sand ballads.
Then there were other paintings and whole stories drawn on large lightboxes by the artist's dexterous hands. By the way, despite the fact that in the resort of Evpatoria all the numerous beaches are strewn with sand, this material is not suitable for creativity. We need a much thinner and "transparent" sand, which is brought by Xenia from Italy. The girl says that volcanic sand is more "obedient", it is much more convenient for them to work, it flows like water under your fingers.
It is difficult to say how much time an artist takes on a particular job. Ksenia says that sometimes she is so inspired that a masterpiece is born in an hour and a half, and sometimes you need to collect your thoughts, catch a "note", a mood, and then it takes up to several days, or even weeks. She especially likes to work when the topic "catches", does not leave indifferent, there is a spiritual impulse. So, one of the most touching works of Xenia is called "Nastya", about a little girl with acute leukemia. And another story in pictures called "Two reasons to live" - about a girl Olya Kravchuk, the mother of two adorable babies, who was suddenly diagnosed with large cell lymphoma.
At the end of last year, Ksenia announced the opening of the author's project "Sand Man", where more than 200 paintings painted with sand, as well as other works created by the artist, will be presented. It is known that the girl will present this project not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. And of course, you can't help showing the video to see with your own eyes what the "sand sorceress" is.
