From ceramic dishes in the kitchen to ceramic plates on the wall, from ceramic sculptures to ceramic decorations, and now also a carpet … With an art project called Construct made by an American sculptor Nathan Craven at the Denver Museum of Art. The project is also known as Footing, aka "base", it is also a ceramic carpet made entirely by hand. An art project, sculpture, installation - the sculptor's work is called differently, omitting only one obvious concept. Footing is an interactive installation that in its essence resembles an unusual, creative puzzle. So, this carpet consists of many separate elements, multi-colored ceramic figures of various sizes and shapes.
The author of the project combined these components into one large canvas and opened it on top with glaze to give it a shine, as well as to protect it from minor damage and dirt. Moreover, the interactivity of this installation involves direct interaction with the audience. So, the bright colors of intricate figurines-elements attract the attention of exhibition visitors, and in order to examine the composition of the "carpet" as it should, as carefully as possible, they need not only come closer to it, but also climb from above, walk around, study every detail, every figurine.
The multi-colored carpet consists of 14,000 ceramic pieces and was first seen by visitors to the Boise State Liberal Arts Building gallery. Learn more about the project on Nathan Craven's website.

Home Useful Art: Ceramic Art by Rebecca Wilson
British ceramic artist Rebecca Wilson could be considered the heir to the sculptors of yesteryear who created ceramic dogs and cats, women in hats and fluffy dresses, and little plump cupids that adorned our grandmothers' sideboards and TV cabinets. If not for the fact that her ceramic art is much more useful than if it were just jewelry: the ceramic sculptures of the young artist are both chandeliers and bottles for
