Devorah Sperber (Devorah Sperber) once already managed to surprise our readers with her pictures from spools of thread … Her latest work is also within the framework of the "handicraft" theme, although this time a different material was chosen: the author presented to the audience the images of the characters of the "Star Trek" series, made of beads strung on a string.
An unusual job that will undoubtedly appeal to all fans of "Star Trek", appeared in one of the offices of Microsoft in Redmond, Washington. The installation, called "Mirror Universe", is based on images from the 1967 episode "Mirror, Mirror". In this episode, Captain Kirk's team encounters their counterparts from a parallel universe.
The main characters of the series - Kirk, Spock and McCoy, as well as their counterparts - are depicted in full growth from translucent beads. From a close distance, the figures seem fuzzy and blurry, but if you step back a few steps, you get a coherent and quite realistic picture. Although one could argue about realism: thanks to the translucent material, the impression of a certain illusory scene is created.
Devora Sperber was born in Detroit in 1961. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Regis University of Denver, Colorado. The author currently lives and works in New York.
