Today we will talk about a completely unexpected side of art, to which no one paid any attention before. This is about boxesin which objects of contemporary art were transported from place to place. It is to them that installation "The Space of Art" from Atelier 37.2presented at the Vienna Museum MAK.
The unusual street sculptures of Сrate men have shown that even ordinary boxes can be works of art if people with imagination and talent work on them. The same idea is proved by the installation "The Space of Art", created by the Atelier 37.2 collective at the site of the MAK Museum in Vienna. Moreover, for its creation, not just boxes were used, but boxes in which the creations of great modern authors were transported.
Fortunately, there are plenty of them left in the MAK Museum! So the guys at Atelier 37.2 didn't even have to look for anything else, they just emptied the museum's warehouses. Moreover, they took these boxes directly with their contents - soft loose packaging material (foam rubber, peanuts and similar substances) used in order not to damage the work transported in them.
These Atelier 37.2 boxes of various sizes and shapes were installed in one of the halls of the MAK museum, writing on each of them whose works were inside and confirming the authenticity of the container with the personal signature of the corresponding artist or sculpture. Moreover, a ladder was brought up to each of the boxes, allowing any visitor to climb inside, lie in a box or roll around in the packaging material.
So people who find themselves at the exhibition "The Space of Art", having climbed inside the boxes, where until recently there were works worth millions of dollars, have the opportunity to feel like the same works of art!
Never before has contemporary art been so, in the literal sense of the word, close, so understandable and so … its own, as in the installation "The Space of Art" by Atelier 37.2.
