Modern photographers often try to depict fantastic worlds, fortunately, the almost limitless possibilities of Photoshop allow a lot. However, there are still enthusiasts who are sure: it is much more interesting to create all kinds of manipulations with reality with your own hands. For example, JeeYoung Lee - a talented photographer from Korea - knows that amazing installations serve the master as well as graphic programs.

Most often in the photographs you can see JeeYoung Lee herself, these are a kind of self-portraits made in a surreal manner. Many works are based on the artist's own memories, her dreams and dreams, or Korean folklore, familiar to her from childhood.

One of the most interesting works is called "Resurrection". It is based on the well-known folk tale "Shim Chon", which tells about a beautiful girl who sacrificed her life so that her blind father could see. She voluntarily threw herself into the sea, but the local "Neptune" took pity on the beauty and resurrected her to life. In the photograph, JeeYoung Lee is shown surrounded by lotuses: she, like Isis, sits on this sacred flower. In many cultures, the lotus symbolizes purity, perfection and beauty, the artist emphasizes that the girl depicted is a collective image of a person who has found the strength to be born again, reveal his inner potential, and achieve emotional maturity.

Among other works, the photo "Adventure Hunt" attracts attention, for which the artist cut out the leaves on the floor of the studio for three months. Photo "Broken Heart" is a visualization of the famous Korean proverb "Like breaking a stone with an egg", which means the futility of human efforts in the struggle against any insurmountable difficulties.

Another photo bears the symbolic title "I'll be back". It is based on a Korean legend about how a hungry tiger drove children into a well. When they prayed for help, the Lord lowered a strong rope for them, and when the tiger wanted to get out, he lowered him a thin one, and thereby doomed the offender to death. This photo is a hymn to hope, because it is she who can save a person in the most difficult situation.

The artist also has her own interpretation of the biblical "Last Supper": hundreds of rats are ready to destroy "Jesus" in the fight for a piece of cheese. This is how JeeYoung Lee sees the modern consumer society, forced to fight for far from limitless resources.
