July 9, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Muse Krepkogorskaya could have turned 92 years old, but she passed away 17 years ago. Them with Georgy Yumatov called one of the most beautiful couples in Soviet cinema, they met and got married during the filming of the film "Young Guard" and stayed together until the end of their days. Addictions were also common, leading to a tragic ending.
The creative fate of Muza Krepkogorskaya was initially very successful: the girl easily entered VGIK, the workshop of S. Gerasimov and T. Makarova, after graduation she entered the troupe of the Theater-Studio of the film actor. Gerasimov invited her to one of the roles in his painting "Young Guard". True, later Krepkogorskaya complained that this role ruined her career: she got the image of the traitor Lazarenko, and she dreamed of playing Lyubka Shevtsova. But shooting in "Young Guard" brought her much more than popularity and love of the audience: there she met the actor Georgy Yumatov.
Yumatov became an actor by a fluke: in the buffet of the Film Actor Theater, director Grigory Alexandrov drew attention to a textured sailor who had recently returned from the front and invited him to shoot his film Spring. He also brought him to VGIK to Gerasimov, but after auditioning, he said that Yumatov was so talented that he did not need additional training, and he was immediately accepted into the Theater of Film Actor.
Almost the entire course of Gerasimov was involved in "Young Guard", for Yumatov this film became a kind of starting point. During the filming, several acting weddings were played at once, including the wedding of Yumatov and Krepkogorskaya. Their marriage was strong, but they had to go through many trials. The muse was little interested in the economy and household chores and was waiting for the main roles. For fear of missing her chance in the cinema, Krepkogorskaya had several abortions, which made it impossible for her to have children. Yumatov closed his eyes to the helplessness of his wife in everyday life, and to her whims, and even to fleeting novels.
In the 1948-1950s. Georgy Yumatov starred in 5 films: "Young Guard", "The Story of a Real Man", "Three Meetings", "In Peaceful Days" and "Zhukovsky". Then there were the famous "Heroes of Shipka", "Ships storm the bastions", "Admiral Ushakov" and "Pedagogical Poem". Its popularity grew every year and into the 1950s. became all-union. He set a condition for all directors: he would act only with his wife, although she was reluctantly approved for the role.
The fame of the spouses had a downside: gradually Yumatov became addicted to drinking, Muse did not lag behind him. She loved to arrange gatherings in their apartment, where N. Rybnikov and A. Larionova, V. Vysotsky and M. Vladi often visited. Meetings with friends ended with weekly binges. Because of this, Yumatov lost the role of the Red Army soldier Sukhov in the film "White Sun of the Desert", although it was already approved.
In the 1990s, hard times came for the cinema, the actors were left without work for a long time. This addiction only aggravated. In 1994, a scandal erupted: Yumatov was imprisoned for murder. He invited the janitor who helped bury his dog to his home. They drank, but it was not possible to find out what exactly caused the quarrel. According to the official version, the janitor said that it would have been better for the Germans to win the war, and rushed at Yumatov with a knife, and he fired a gun in self-defense. But family friends do not believe that the actor could kill a person. Many then said that in fact he took the blame of his wife. However, this version was not confirmed at the trial.
Yumatov spent about two months in prison, and then fell under an amnesty. After that, he lived a little over two years. Doctors discovered he had an abdominal aortic aneurysm, and in 1997 he was gone. After the death of her husband, Krepkogorskaya hardly left the house and drank a lot. She outlived her husband by two and a half years.
Today, these actors are rarely remembered, they can be seen on rare photographs of Soviet celebrities who enjoyed popular love
