Mosfilm Film Studio turns 95 years old. In honor of such an important date, it was decided to hold Russian cinema days in Cape Town. This event started on May 3 and will end on May 16. Only nine films were selected for screening.

The most famous works of Andrei Tarkovsky and Karen Shakhnazarov are among the films that the residents of Cape Town will be able to see, as well as his guests. Viewers will see a movie titled "Dersu Uzala" by director Akira Kurosawa, which was created jointly by Japan and the Soviet Union. The Days of Russian Cinema will be held in the format of a mini-festival, which has decided to host a private cinema called Labia.

It is owned by Ludi Kraus. He is often involved in screening non-commercial and author films in his cinema. It should be noted that this is not the first time that Russian films will be shown here. From time to time, such films are shown in the cinema, which is facilitated by Oleg Neruchev, who is the head of the local company "Russian House of Technologies, Education and Development". He is also an intermediary between the Mosfilm studio and the South African side. It all started with the fact that Ludi announced his desire to show Russian films in his cinema, and Neruchev said that he could arrange everything. For the first time, such shows began to be held in the last decade, but only recently such a good tradition has been forgotten. The 95th birthday of Mosfilm was an excellent occasion to revive this tradition. The number of films that have decided to be shown in Cape Town this time is a record, as well as the duration of the days of Russian cinema, which did not last until two weeks. During the opening of the festival, it was decided to show a film directed by Shakhnazarov with the title “Anna Karenina. Vronsky's story ". The festival will also feature his other works, such as "Courier", "City of Zero" and "Chamber No. 6". The program of the event included the films by Andrey Tarkovsky "Stalker" and "Solaris", the film by Vladimir Menshov "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears", the war drama "Star" by director Nikolai Lebedev. It is worth noting that the film "Zvezda" has already been shown in the South African Republic, but the audience liked it so much that they decided to include it in the program of the next Days of Russian Cinema.
