In big cities, where movies, commercials, TV plots or reality shows are shot from time to time, almost every block, park or square becomes a film set. And then, walking through these parks and squares, streets and courtyards, you can feel as if you are filming yourself, and a film crew headed by the director and assistants is about to appear around the corner. Writer, journalist and photographer Christopher Moloney specifically looking for such places for his project FILMography, and then compares them with frames from famous movies. For greater effect, the photographer uses black and white prints with one scene or another, and photographs it against the background of the landscape so that the photo fits perfectly into the background, and is its perfect continuation. The same as we saw him in the film. Some places have remained unchanged, and you can easily imagine how everything really happened. But some were not taken pity on neither the time nor the city authorities, nor the projects of reconstruction, reorganization and development of the city, so that they only vaguely resemble what was once filmed. And it makes it all the more interesting to look at photographs from the FILMography series by Christopher Moloney - they keep history in themselves.
But most of the townships in different cities of different countries have remained unchanged. And if you distract from reality, and remember your favorite film that was once filmed at this very place, you can clearly imagine the actors and their dialogues, and even act out this scene mentally, or even involve friends in a funny game. And from the pictures of Christopher Moloney it becomes a little sad, but very warm, as if looking at a photograph of relatives who have been living abroad for a long time, and now it turns out to see them less and less …
This art project is already several years old, but it is still filled with more and more new photographs "following the waves of your favorite cinema." View the entire collection on the FILMography website.

Passport photo. Passport and Reality art project by Suren Manvelyan
