"Tim Barton met Jules Verne" - this is how the works of the Belgian author Stephane Halleux are described on the Internet. Sculptures by this author cannot be confused with any other: executed in the steampunk style, they are a charming mixture of man, machines and technology.
Stephane Halleux was born on July 6, 1976 in Belgium. After graduating from the Institute of Saint Luc in Liege, the author began his career at an animation studio in Luxembourg, where he drew comics. For seven years, the artist created uninteresting (in his own words) things for other people and had no opportunity to do anything else. Eventually he had a creative crisis and Stephane left the company. His new place of work was a company selling old furniture. Here, surrounded by old things, the author again felt the ability to create.
Sculpture has become a new passion for Stephane Halleux. From leather, parts of various mechanisms and other improvised objects, the author creates figures thought out to the smallest detail, which are similar to both people and machines. The sculptures are at the same time humorous, gloomy and filled with some kind of fabulous charm.
“I've always loved the crazy mix of science, cutting edge technology and the romance of old mechanisms,” says Stephane Halleux. - All I do is my bizarre cartoon vision of our robotic future. And I imagine the future a little old-fashioned, don't blame me."
The first exhibition of works by Stephane Halleux took place in 2005. Since then, his sculptures have been shown in several prestigious galleries, and now the author is aimed at conquering the international art space.
