When going on a trip, we will definitely take a suitcase with things, necessary or not, this is another question, but things are necessary to ensure a comfortable stay far from home. Unlike ordinary tourists, Chinese artist Yin Xiuzhen travels with suitcases where entire cities are hidden. And this is not a fiction, miniatures of Yin Xiuzhen cities can be easily carried with you in an ordinary suitcase.
Installation "Portable Cities" by a Beijing artist - scaled-down models of Wellington, Glasgow, San Francisco, Beijing, built by the artist from various old donated or found things and clothes. Socks, shirts, pants are sewn together, various belts and boxes are folded and glued to create three-dimensional sculptures of landmarks, by which we can easily recognize a particular city.
The choice of "suitcase cities" is not accidental. In all these cities, Yin Xiuzhen managed to live, fell in love with them, and now she does not want to leave and carries with her. The choice of such "home" material shows how close to her the places that she depicts.
Yin Xiuzhen is one of the most active artists in China today. She creates avant-garde installations that reflect the environment that surrounds us. The talented Beijing resident sees art as a means of conveying aspects of individual experience in life, combined with an attitude towards global transformation.

How to feel like a cowboy: an exact replica of a 19th century American city was put up for auction
Any fan of westerns now has the opportunity to become the sheriff of an American city in the 19th century - and not virtually, but in reality. However, for this you need to pay about 1.7 million dollars (1.2 million pounds). It is for this price that the city in the Wild West was put up for sale through Sotheby's. More precisely, a copy of it. Everything here is like in a real old American town: a hotel, a church, a prison, a dance and billiard rooms, a photo studio and, of course, a hairdresser
What secrets are kept in the ancient clay city of Bam, which appeared 200 years earlier than Rome
Of course, "Eternal Bam" does not sound as proud and majestic as "Eternal Rome". By its involvement with eternity, it can quite adequately compete with the capital of Italy. Bam was built two centuries earlier. And if the face of other cities is changing, then this city seems to pass by the time. Civilizations perish and reappear, landscapes change. Only the unbreakable, harsh citadel on the top of the hill still meets the sunsets and sunrises
City within a city: original street art
In a modern large city, we usually meet a bunch of nondescript objects, the mere sight of which spoils our mood. An interesting solution was found by the German artist Evol, who turned these objects into works of art using adhesive paper
The past is a suitcase with a handle. "Memory Suitcases" - a nostalgic series of paintings by Yuval Yairi
Remember the common idea that the past is akin to a suitcase without a handle: it's hard to carry, but it's a pity to throw it away. The creative project of the Israeli artist Yuval Yairi completely contradicts this statement. For him, the past is a suitcase. With a handle. "Memory Suitcases" - this is how the artist called a series of nostalgic paintings made on … suitcases
