Few people are able to believe the first time that an American photo artist Sandy Skoglund creates his amazing work without using Photoshop and other graphic editors. But this is true, because at the time when Sandy began her creative career, they did not know anything about Photoshop, and photographs were taken on film. Why, then, is she called a photo artist? The fact is that all the installations that are visible in the photographs, Sandy prepares, colors and builds in the desired composition on his own, from beginning to end, and then removes them on film. Combining the duties of an artist, sculptor and photographer, an author can spend several months creating one installation. In addition, being a creative person, in the process of working on a project, Sandy Skoglund can change or add something to it. And then she has to either invite additional actors, or change the scenery, or rebuild the whole concept of the work anew. When everything is finally ready, the author takes photographs of these surreal fantasies, embodied in reality, and the result is a "living" photoart that can easily compete with the electronic works of graphic designers.
Sandy Skoglund's main passion is a variety of animals. It is them that she most often makes the main characters of her installations, and without stopping at one or two animals in the frame - there are dozens or even hundreds of them. Cats, dogs, squirrels, chipmunks, foxes and even fish, painted in a single, but bright and contrasting color - this is a kind of visiting card of the photo artist. One of the most famous works of Sandy Skoglund is called the installation "Radioactive Cats", in which poisonous green cats filled the boring gray kitchen of the same boring and gray people who drag out their dull existence day after day, doing nothing but eating, sleeping reading newspapers or watching TV.
However, she loves many and without animals, filling the frame with repetitive objects like tree leaves, fruits, cutlery, paintings and even food. There are even more works of the photographer on her personal website.
