Surely everyone remembers the "Day of Neptune", which was held every shift in children's camps. Every child, without exception, was waiting for this event. Still would! After all, it was on this day from morning until evening that it was allowed to splash each other with water and even push into the pool. But few people know that a similar event is held annually in Thailand. Moreover, people are joined by … elephants, who are also allowed to douse themselves with water without measure.
From the outside it looks like this: two squads (people and animals) stand opposite each other and start pouring water over their rivals. Needless to say, the elephants emerge victorious from this fight? But everyone, without exception, gets pleasure from the process. This event takes place on April 9 and marks the beginning of the New Year in Thailand.
Barrels of water are placed for the elephants for convenience. People are "armed" with hoses. Very often, interested tourists join the locals during the "water battle". They enthusiastically pour water on animals and each other, forgetting for a moment about their problems, diseases and high social status. In this battle, everyone is equal.
It must be admitted that the inhabitants of Thailand have always highly prized elephants. It is not for nothing that this country annually celebrates Elephant Day, when animals are paraded through the streets of the city and a huge buffet is organized in the square so that elephants can enjoy fruit.

Neptune Day: How Ancient Roman Celebration Became Modern Foam Parties
This holiday ceased to exist either at the very beginning of our era, or even earlier, but some of its attributes, sometimes in a greatly changed form, have survived to this day. The ancient Romans initially worshiped several gods who personified different forces of nature, in particular, Neptune, who at first was the god of rivers and lakes, and not the entire ocean. But he was still considered a very important deity, and in the summer, in a particularly hot time, holidays were held in his honor - Neptune was tried in this way
