David Gerstein is one of Israel's most famous contemporary sculptors. His whimsical works can be seen both in galleries and simply on city streets: made of steel and hand-painted in vibrant colors, they attract eyes and always give a good mood.
The main feature of Gerstein's work is the desire to destroy the existing barriers between the work of art and the audience by creating charming and simple images, which contain deeply personal, dreamy, naive scenes, and sometimes, on the contrary, cinematic, large-scale and staged reality. According to one of the critics, the works of David Gerstein are "paintings that have gone out of the frame and received a new living space."
It is difficult for Gerstein's works to give any clear definition, it is easier to say that all his work is somewhere “in between”. Between sculpture and drawing, between flat and volumetric surfaces, between art objects and trinkets, between art and craft. The author himself speaks of his work simply, without leaving the jungle of philosophy: “For me, art is something simple and basic, like bread, water or air. I do not try to invent anything and do not torture my brain in search of a great idea: my works appear on their own. They come to me when I am driving, having a conversation or lying in bed."
David Gerstein was born in Jerusalem in 1944. Studied at Bezalel Academy (Jerusalem), Beaux Arts (Paris), Art Students League (New York) and St. Martin '(London). His works are well known all over the world, and not only to art connoisseurs who visit exhibitions and acquire the author's works for their collections, but also to many people who get acquainted with the striking sculptures of Gerstein right on the city streets. A lot of great things can also be seen on the author's site.

Contemporary art from Konstantin Zolotarev. Contemporary Christian art or icon painting style
The icon painting style created for the depiction of saints and Christ is aimed at displaying a different reality. Therefore, in the icon, the portrait resemblance of a saint to a person who actually lived once is not in principle, since it reflects a transformed person who is in the upper world. But after all, the saints once lived on earth, they were like us, they ate and drank and had practically the same problems as modern man
