Someone takes pictures of nature, someone of people, and Brian McCarty from Los Angeles captures the life of ordinary toys on camera, creating whole photo stories. He has been working with toys as models for over 15 years. The unique and innovative creative approach of the photographer has helped him to take its rightful place in the art of photography.
Brian McCarthy's works combine reality and hyperreality through the personification and pantomime of toy characters placed in an existing setting. All characters and decorations are created separately for each photo scene, in which a personal and playful connection with the viewer is established. Unique techniques and creativity are trademarks of the photographer's studio. Clients of McCarthy's photographs are advertising companies, toy manufacturers, and design and publishing companies.
Brian McCarthy received his BA from the Parson School of Design in New York and then completed his studies at the Fabrica Research Center in Treviso, Italy. In addition to his own and commercial projects, the photographer constantly collaborates with such a famous magazine as Hi Fructose. McCarthy is currently working on a photo album to be printed by Baby Tattoo Books.
