Natalia Fateeva was called the first beauty of Soviet cinema and Russian Elizabeth Taylor. She had thousands of admirers, and the most prominent, intelligent and talented men became the chosen ones - actor and director Vladimir Basov, intelligence officer Mikhail Lyubimov, cosmonaut Boris Egorov. But if the actress talked about them in an interview, then she preferred to remain silent about her first marriage. But her first husband, actor and teacher Leonid Tarabarinov, although he was not so famous, possessed those qualities that she could not find in anyone later …
Natalia Fateeva was born and raised in Kharkov, where her acting career began. In 1952 she entered the Kharkov Theater Institute, where she met Leonid Tarabarinov. He was 6 years older than Natalia, but in their relationship the last word was always with her. Their acquaintances said that he very touchingly courted Fateeva, literally blew dust particles off her. His friends called him good-natured, but weak-minded - due to the fact that he was inferior in everything to his wayward chosen one and allowed himself to be pushed around, although his only weakness was his love for Natalya.
Less than a year after they met, they decided to get married. After the wedding, they settled in the house of Fateeva's parents, and from the very first days, difficulties began in the family. Natalia's mother did not approve of this marriage - she was sure that her beautiful daughter deserved a better fate than being the wife of a poor student from a small village. In addition, Natalia at that time was not at all ready for family life - she loved to be in the center of attention, dreamed of a brilliant career, was bored at home next to her husband and was frankly burdened by everyday problems.
Tarabarinov believed that their marriage destroyed life, while Fateeva had other views on this. Leonid was not at all what she would like to see a man next to her. She constantly reproached him for indecision and self-doubt, in the absence of ambitions regarding an acting career, which she herself had enough. While still a student, Fateeva got a job as a television studio announcer, and soon she was expelled from the institute.
The actress never spoke about the reasons for the expulsion. Her teacher said: "". But no matter how complex her character was, there was no doubt about Fateeva's acting talent. Obviously, she focused on work, which meant that there was not enough time for study, and this could lead to expulsion. Her colleague Zoya Katkova said: "".
At the same time, relations with her husband finally deteriorated, their marriage broke up after a year of marriage, and Natalya decided to leave for Moscow. Everyone knows very well about her future fate: she graduated from VGIK, at the age of 22 she made her film debut and soon reached all the heights she dreamed of, becoming one of the most popular and sought-after Soviet actresses. Fateeva never spoke about her past before moving to Moscow in an interview, as if deciding to erase this period from her life. Therefore, the name of Leonid Tarabarinov was practically never mentioned in connection with her. She has been to her homeland in Kharkov more than once, she was asked questions about her first husband, but she said only a couple of phrases about him: "".
A year after his divorce from Fateeva, Tarabarinov graduated from the institute and became an actor in the Kharkiv Ukrainian Drama Theater. T. Shevchenko. In a short time, he received as many leading roles as other actors cannot wait for years. At the age of 30, he made his film debut in the film Poem of the Sea, which brought him his first popularity. In the 1960-1970s. Leonid continued to act, however, he got only supporting roles. In 1968 he began teaching at the Kharkov Institute of Arts, in 1989 he became a professor. In 1972 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR - at that time, only one of the three natives of Kharkov.
For a long time, Tarabarinov remained a bachelor, concentrating on work, but many years later he married a school teacher. He lived in Kharkov until the end of his days. He was repeatedly invited to shoot by Moscow directors, he was offered to go to the Maly Theater and the Theater of the Mossovet, but the actor refused. His friends said that his brother was ill, and when he was gone, it was necessary to take care of his sick mother, because of which he could not go anywhere. He never told anyone about his own health problems, and until his last days he appeared on the theater stage, which was his salvation and outlet. In 2008, at the age of 79, Leonid Tarabarinov passed away.
Natalya Fateeva married several more times, but all her marriages were short-lived. She said about the reasons for her failures in her personal life: "".
But if these words were true in relation to her subsequent marriages, this could hardly be said about the first - Leonid Tarabarinov was not indifferent to her and continued to love the actress even after their separation. Fateeva's teacher Nina Logvinova said: "".
Once Tarabarinov uttered a phrase that very accurately characterizes him both as a person and as a professional: "". Perhaps that is why the audience who saw him on screens and on the theater stage loved him so much …
