The artist needed not a million scarlet roses, chestnuts and lilies, but exactly 28 thousand flowers in pots Anna Schuleit for that amazing, unique installation that she and her assistants put on at the Massachusetts Center for Mental Health. Thanks to creative enthusiasts, the corridors of the building were buried in flowers, and it was truly a hymn to life, light and color, which, as it turned out, can be found even among the gray and dull walls. The installation was called Bloom, it was released back in 2008, and was timed to coincide with a very sad event for some. The fact is that this very Center was subject to destruction, so that a new, modern one with a strong material and technical base would grow on the site of the old and dilapidated building. No one argued with this, but still the old building meant a lot to the staff and patients. In the form of a large-scale floral installation, Anna Shulayt and her assistants erected a kind of monument to the old man.
It took 3 long months to fill up all the floors of the Center with flowers. Each branch, each part of the building had its own flower, which was very symbolic. For example, the children's department was subsequently decorated with white delicate tulips, the hall was covered with green grass, and orange begonias paved the way to the offices of the chief doctors.
To date, history does not know of another such desperate act, which would be accompanied by a real sea of fresh flowers, and did not carry destruction and harm. You can find out about the work of the talented artist Anna Shulayt on her website.
