Thomas Woodruff is a very good artist, but he does not want to be content with ordinary depictions of landscapes or vortrets. His paintings are always something unusual, mysterious, even strange. We have already talked about his project "Solar system"where each image can be viewed both in the usual way and upside down. Today we present to your attention another original project of the author - a series of paintings called "Freak Parade".
The Freaks Parade is an ambitious and dazzling sequence of images celebrating the beauty of the abnormal. Each of the unfortunate but noble participants in the parade is depicted on a separate canvas. The procession begins with “Anatomy Boy,” a refined youth with flayed skin, and ends with a painting “Sweeper,” representing the grim figure of a reaper. Between them are 30 more characters - the same strange and abnormal. Here and rabbits with unrealistically long necks, and wolves-Siamese twins, dressed in sheep's clothing, and a legless sleepwalker … One can only marvel at the author's imagination, which prompted him to images of all these heroes. Each image is related to the previous one: if you arrange them in a row, then we get a single procession of 32 characters.
Thomas Woodruff's project "Freaks Parade" started in 2000 as a protest against the global standardization of culture. Mixing ancient Roman wall murals, baroque religious subjects, theater posters and Victorian calligraphy in his paintings, the artist created a strange world of his own. Each image is titled and includes a poem. Written by the author himself, deliberately depressing and gloomy, these texts bring new meaning to the understanding of the paintings.
Thomas Woodruff was born in 1957. His creative career is quite varied and very successful. Over the years, the author has created covers and illustrations for books, worked in the theater, designing sets and costumes, and was a tattoo artist. The artist has more than 20 personal exhibitions around the world. More information can be found on the author's website.

The performance is called Dachshund Parade, and this year Krakow celebrated the 18th anniversary of a fun and curious event
The last parade of the white army: When and where the whites fraternized with the reds and marched in a joint parade
1945 is marked in the history of the USSR by four military parades of the winners. On September 16, in commemoration of the defeat of militarist Japan, Soviet soldiers marched through the streets of Harbin. The Eastern War turned out to be swiftly victorious. The USSR declared war on the Japanese on August 8, and on September 2 the latter surrendered unconditionally. But it was noteworthy that the Whites marched alongside the victors from the Red Army, taking part in the last military parade in the history of their movement

Without hesitation, they announced a competition for the best design of street telephone booths, in which anyone can become a participant by registering and sending their design project by the organizer
Thomas Woodruff Solar System

These images, illustrating the planets of the solar system, can be viewed not only in the usual way, but also upside down! No wonder the second name of the project is "Turning Heads"
"King of the Freaks": how was life for a man who had three legs
“Not being like everyone else” is a heavy burden that falls on the shoulders of people with physical disabilities. Society often does not accept them, finding a job and (all the more) arranging a personal life seems almost impossible for them. Their usual lot is to perform in the circus for the amusement of the crowd. Frank Lentini was destined for such a path from birth, but he managed to find his calling and become a happy family man. This man was born with three legs, but despite the anomaly, he was glad
