James Nizam in his latest series of photographs "Anteroom" with the help of a "camera-obscura" placed an image in the perimeter of one room of a house that is being demolished. His photographs show the outlines of a real, abandoned room and, as it were, layering of what will be in the future in this place.

The author achieved this by punching a hole in the wall of a darkened room, and the rays of transmitted light gave an inverted image. This is what James photographed with a 35mm camera. For the author, camera obscura is not a return to the past of photography, but a kind of look into the future.

Why, then, did James Nizam show nature? How does it relate to the future? We will find the answer to this question on the official website of Vancouver photographers: “We don't have bad photographers. The whole problem is that Vancouver is too picturesque a city and I want to capture every piece of it, every blade of grass. And the clouds? You have never seen such clouds as in Vancouver. Yes, our city is unique! This is why all of James Nizam's photographs are so green.

It is worth noting that nowadays photographers tend to use such methods as camera obscura, many regard this as a return to the origins of photography.

The first mention of the camera obscura is found in the 4th century BC. e.. Many scholars believe that this was the earliest form of photography. It is believed that the first camera obscura was used for sketches from life by Leonardo da Vinci. And in 1686, Johannes Zahn designed a portable obscura camera equipped with a mirror. She could project an image onto a matte plate, which allowed artists to transfer landscapes to paper. After the invention of light-sensitive materials, obscura cameras became cameras.
