Mosaic itself is an art form that has been known since ancient times. But the material for creating images in this technique can be very diverse, and masters from all over the world to this day compete with each other in its novelty and originality. Peter Rocha, for example, chose marmalade for himself, from which he composes bright multicolored pictures.
Jelly beans, or "jelly beans," are the most common marmalade in America. These are bright jelly bean-shaped candies with a hard shell and gummy filling. All of Peter Rocha's mosaics are custom made by the company that produces this type of marmalade. So the author does not work unselfishly, but receives money for his work. So what - the pictures do not get worse from this!
Peter Rocha does not work alone, but together with his equally talented nephew Roger. But even with four hands, the creation of one sweet picture can take several months. This is not surprising, because you need to choose the color and stack a lot of sweets. For example, the image of Elizabeth II during her coronation in 1952 took as much as 10 thousand gummies and six months of work.
The process of creating an image begins with a drawing on a canvas, on top of which sweets are then laid out. The author never uses glue for fixing, replacing it with transparent varnish. The finished mosaic is also covered with varnish, which protects the sweet piece from insects.
In total, during their gummy careers, Peter and Roger Rocha created 75 sweet paintings, among which there are many portraits of prominent people of the past and present. Here and Abraham Lincoln, and Elvis Presley, and George Clooney … A special place among the works of the authors, undoubtedly, is occupied by the portrait of Ronald Reagan - an enthusiastic fan of jelly beans, thanks to which these gummies have become the national pride of the United States.
