"If you suffer for a long time, something will work out" - apparently Antti Rako (Antti Rahko) (72-year-old chauffeur from Finland) thought that way when he decided 10 years ago to build limousine from.. old auto parts. In 1984, he immigrated to the United States, and built his brainchild here in Florida. To do this, he needed parts from two Mercedes Benz vans and several parts from a 1962 Chrysler Imperial. Limousine named Finnjet ("Finnijet"), its dimensions are impressive: the car rides on 8 wheels, 10 seats in the cabin, and its weight is 3.4 tons.
Antti Rako no longer remembers how the idea to create such an unusual limousine was born. He had his own car dealership, Antti was also often involved in car repairs. The designer jokes that once he had an idea: if you assemble one car out of two, then trade will go twice as fast. Of course, such a colorful limousine did not go unnoticed by motorists: in Houston, at the Art Car Parade, it took first place twice; in Europe, the car was demonstrated at the Essen Motor Show. The organizers of the events are so interested in Antti Rako's participation that they pay for the transportation of his car, and also install a million dollar insurance policy on him.
The extravagant appearance of the car is impressive: it is equipped with 86 headlights, 36 mirrors, and two jet engines equipped with exhaust pipes. The cabin has many amenities: microwave, TV, refrigerator and air conditioning - everything to make passengers feel comfortable. Amazingly, even a mini-sauna could fit here.
Despite the fact that today "Finnjet" can be seen in the best car dealerships in the world, this car has traveled its own and on ordinary roads. Antti drove it to Canada several times, and also rode it to the newlyweds. True, the road patrol service never stopped him to check his documents. The only time on the way from the international airport in Miami, he was stopped by a whole police squadron of 12 cars and a helicopter. Apparently, the police just wanted to get a better look at the car, nothing more. Today Antti Rako wants to sell Finnjet, as getting behind the wheel is already problematic for him. The exact price of the car is unknown, but a couple of years ago, the designer gave an approximate amount of $ 950,000.
