Video: Photos of Bursting Water Balls by Edward Horsford
2024 Author: Richard Flannagan | [email protected]. Last modified: 2023-12-15 23:55
London photographer Edward Horsford (Edward Horsford) is a master of high speed photography. The author photographs bursting balloons filled with water - at the moment when the latex shell has already been torn, but the contents of the balloon have not yet spilled out onto the floor.
The art of high-speed photography has always attracted Edward Horsford, because it is so interesting to capture a moment that is hardly noticeable in everyday life, if not noticeable at all. Edward pierces the balls with a steel bar and does it differently for each shot. In the process of taking a picture, the author works in the dark and uses a special device with a microphone, which, when a certain level of noise (the sound of a bursting ball) is reached, triggers a flash. By the way, the photographer developed this trigger on his own, since none of the existing ones suited him.
Before starting the process of photographing, the author spends a lot of time planning and thinking over each shot. Yes, and during work, not everything works out the first time: either the flash fired at the wrong time, then the photographer himself got into the frame, then the light was incorrectly exposed. Often the water inside the balls is tinted to achieve a greater effect, and since the photographer has to burst on average 30-50 balls in one session, by the end he becomes similar, by his own definition, "to a Jackson Pollock painting."
“I try to create works that are interesting and extremely unique. While I do this mostly for fun, I really appreciate the comments people leave for me on Flickr, - says the author. - The Internet is full of pictures of exploding balls filled with water, but only a few of them are really interesting. I don't want to get a picture that hundreds of people have already taken before me, I want something new. Therefore, in every photograph I challenge myself, my technique and skill."
