Taking nature in general and the plant world in particular as a source of inspiration, the Brazilian author Simone Lawrenzo (Simone Lourenco) carves bright, intricate and emotional art from colored paper.
Simone says that she has always been fascinated by the plant kingdom and the patterns that can be found in nature. Therefore, having engaged in carving paper sculptures, the author did not really doubt where to look for inspiration. The constant growth in nature, its beauty and the cyclical nature of the changes taking place in it - this is what all the works of our heroine are about.
In her works, Simone Lourenzo folds colored paper in several layers, cutting through each of them so that the lower one is visible. In addition, the author pulls paper strips from different layers to the surface, intertwining them, twisting and folding in intricate ways.
Now Simone Lourenzo lives and works in New York, and she was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1974. Another direction in the author's work is drawing with markers, where Simona uses the same bright colors and complex intricate patterns as in paper works. You can see a more complete portfolio of the author on its official website.
