Amanda McCavour recently graduated from university, but has already made a name for herself in the world of visual arts, thanks to her unique installations of threads. The works of Amanda McCavour - light, fragile and airy - immerse us in a fairy-tale world of dreams and remind us of the fragility and fragility of earthly lives.

To create her works, Amanda McCavour takes an instant canvas and embroiders patterns on it. Then the base fabric is removed, leaving only the stitches, forming a fragile and airy work of art. “I consider them to be drawings, but I make them using a sewing machine,” the author says of his work. "I draw the image using the threads, and then I loosen the base, and the drawing is made from only the threads."

The idea to create such works of art came to Amanda while studying one of the courses at the university: “In Professor Michael Davey's class, we had to explore drawing as something more than the traditional understanding of the word. And this changed the direction of my work: I began to think of threads as lines in a drawing."

The most favorite moment in Amanda's creative process is the unfolding of the canvas. At this moment, the drawing finally takes on its final look, and the action of water on the thread softens the shape and makes the image vulnerable.

Amanda McCavour's work is reminiscent of tissues found in the human body and in the natural world in general. Hanging threads often appear in her works, and it seems that it is worth pulling on one of them - and the whole image will unravel. Thus, the author seeks to illustrate the vulnerability and fragility of life. “The threads are so beautiful and fragile that they seem to me the most suitable material for talking about the human body, its vulnerability and temporality,” says Amanda.
