Who is he, the most dear living artist in the world? The answer is clear: Gerhard Richter. For more than ten years now, the artist living in Cologne, Germany, has headed all the world's top price lists. Richter's works diverge for fabulous sums of seven and eight digits. And this is during life! Incredible!

In the 1970s, Richter painted a series of minimalist paintings entitled “Gray,” which were flat and monochrome surfaces. In 1972, Richter represented German art at the Venice Biennale. Only one artist of the Biennale - Gerhard Richter - was given a whole pavilion. The first solo exhibition of his work in the United States was held in 1973. Richter's work combines the traditions of realism with the pathos of pop art, with the late phenomena of informal painting.
