Video: Steve Tobin's glass falls

Honestly, when you see the work of Steve Tobin in photographs, it is very easy to believe that these are real waterfalls or mountain rivers. Why are there photographs: those who were lucky enough to see these works with their own eyes tell that in the first moments they were occupied with only one question - how does water manage to flow without sound? It's very simple, because all these works are sculptures made of glass.
The Waterglass sculpture series is entirely made of glass. What you take from afar for splashing on water is actually the finest glass fibers. But for some reason, the fact that these works are made by human hands is the last thing you think about. Even when you understand that the "water" is static, it seems that the magnificent waterfalls simply froze and turned into pieces of ice …
Steve Tobin was born in 1957 in the United States. Although the fascination with glass began in high school, the author's education was not at all creative: by his diploma he was a bachelor of mathematics. Currently, Tobin creates sculptures from different materials and on different themes, but they all have one thing in common: a sense of wonder. The author's sculptures are often the result of interaction with nature, presenting a unique view of objects or processes that are usually overlooked.
Steve Tobin's level of skill is eloquently testified by the following fact: in 1989, the author became the first foreigner who was invited to open his own studio on the Italian island of Murano, famous for its glass blowers. The sculptor's works are in many collections around the world, including the White House (Washington). You can see other works of Tobin - not glass, but no less interesting - by visiting his website.

Glass knitting. Art-glass by Erwin Timmers

The artist discussed in this article, Erwin Timmers, is also into knitting, but in a specific way. He is called a "glass designer" because he knows how to get amazing things out of this complex, naughty and very fragile material. Accordingly, he has the same knitting
Bohemian glass engraving. Glass art by Heather Gillespie
Glass is like honey: if you melt it, it will be just as transparent and thick, viscous and malleable. Probably, this association became one of the reasons why the British artist Heather Gillespie prefers to work with glass, and she chose the appropriate specialization at the local university - an engraver on glass, and not on any glass, but on the famous Bohemian
Stained Glass Park - a park of glass and color in Montreal
Parks and gardens are completely different. Sometimes, there is nothing in common between them! Let us compare at least an ordinary orchard with a Japanese rock garden.
