One of the funniest and most solemn holidays in Latin America, despite its name, is considered " The day of the Dead", or Day of the dead … Naturally, the common symbol of the holiday is the skull, and sweets in the form of dead heads, skeletons, zombies and body parts are held in high esteem. It was for this holiday that the artist known as Krisztianna, timed the presentation of her art project Four seasons muertitas, a series of eerie sculptural masks depicting the seasons. Wall masks-sculptures are made quite in the spirit of the holiday. Dead heads, decorated with colored ornaments and paintings, crowned with bright wreaths, ornaments of flowers, herbs, fruits and berries, look like a mockery of death. In this way, they can cause a significant resonance in the society of those who treat this event in a completely different way, and do not share the bright and cheerful mood of the indigenous Latin Americans who celebrate the Day of the Dead. However, in the homeland of shamans and healers, there are different laws and traditions, therefore, at the exhibitions where Krisztianna presents her wall masks-sculptures, there are always enough fans of her extraordinary creativity.
Krisztianna calls her creative masks-sculptures Muertitas, which can be understood as "posthumous". However, unlike real ones, the artist makes decorative masks from polystyrene and a wire base, decorates with acrylic paints, and decorates with synthetic plants, berries and other accessories to complete the "seasonal" look of each of them. However, it will not be difficult to find out all four seasons, and not only by the accessories, but also by the colors and general mood of the sculptures.
The sculpture masks are made in a single copy and will not be sold. You can see these and other works of the artist on her website.
