Striking multi-colored carpets with vibrant geometric patterns are the work of artist Heidi Voet, master of original installations. These carpets are one of such installations, since they are not woven from laces, threads or fabric ribbons, but from several hundred wristwatches. The title of this work is very strange: "Is six afraid of seven".
Having picked up about 4 thousand of the simplest electronic watches with multi-colored cases and bracelets, Heidi Voet weaved them into one large canvas, covered with an ornament of rhombuses, zigzags and lines. Outwardly, this canvas practically does not differ from the colorful tapestries or mats with which people decorate their apartments to make them cozier and warmer. But this is if you do not look closely. And do not listen, because this art project has one very interesting feature, which becomes known at a certain moment.
The fact is that all the clocks of the installation carpet not only work properly, but are also synchronized with each other so that at a certain time, at a certain interval, blow up the silence with a harmonious chorus of well-oiled alarm clocks. True, he remains slender only for the time being. When the batteries in the watch start to die slowly, a gradual desynchronization occurs, and instead of a musical chorus, chaos and cacophony are obtained. Well, no one is perfect, says project author Heidi Voet philosophically. And over time it becomes more and more noticeable.
