What could be more beautiful than kisses? Gentle, passionate, sincere, quivering … Photographer Matt Weber for thirty years he collected kisses, which he witnessed on streets of New York … Today collection Urban Romance includes many pictures that capture touching moments of love.
Love inspires, intoxicates, dazzles, and it seems as if the whole world is focused on one single person. Likewise, the couples in love in Matt Weber's photographs are passionate about each other, not noticing that life is boiling around, and even the noise of the city dies down for them.
Matt Weber became interested in documentary photography in 1978. Over the years, his photographs can be used to reproduce the history of New York, but not its textbook version, but collected, like a picture in a kaleidoscope, from hundreds of disparate lives. It would seem that it is useless to spy on people at the moment of a kiss, but the photographer is sure of the opposite, because he preserves the intimacy of the process without violating the anonymity of the lovers. For him, the harmony that arises at this moment is important, the happiness that the captured frames breathe. Matt Weber himself emphasizes that there are so many unhappy people in the world that when he meets genuinely happy people, he tries not to think about why this is so.
The result of many years of observation over the life of New York was the illustrated edition of "The Urban Prisoner", in which, of course, there was a place for "Urban Romance".
By the way, on the site Kultrologiya. Ru we talked about another great street photographer, Matt Stewart, whose works can tell a lot about the life of London.
