Circle - the oldest mystical symbol denoting unity and infinity. This is both the pre-Christian sign of the wheel-sun, and the personification of generations replacing each other. Philippa Jones and Martin Hill - masters land art, they implemented a large-scale project, within the framework of which they created a series of photographs of round eco-sculpture.
Each sculpture is a symbol of life and endless renewal. The main difference between these art objects is that their appearance looks complete only at the moment when a semicircle made of stones or wooden sticks is completely reflected in the water. The life of most installations is short-lived: some exist as long as the lighting does not change, others do - for a couple of minutes while the structure maintains balance.
The artists hope that in this way they will be able to draw public attention to the problems of environmental degradation. The implementation of the project took a year, the most short-lived was a semicircle carved out of ice. Due to the temperature difference in the warm water column, the Ice Circle lasted no more than two minutes.
Installation "Synergy" consists of stems connected with linen threads. Photo taken at sunset on Lake Wanaka. But "Stone Circle", on the contrary, was filmed in the morning on Lake Taupo (New Zealand). This installation is made of pumice, and it was easy to make holes in this pliable material.
Photos of the original Land Art will be displayed from February to April 2014 at McClelland Sculpture Park in Melbourne.
The land art of Philip Jones and Martin Hill is close in spirit to the cycle of geometric works from the cycle "Back to Nature" by the artist Fesson Ludovik (we have already told about it to the readers of the site Kulturologiya. RF). Both masters create complete symmetrical shapes thanks to the shadows cast by compositions of natural materials.

Surreal paintings from circles and spots. Unusual painting by Matthew Davis (Matthew Davis)
Pictures of dots, circles and specks that readers could see on the pages of Culturology.Ru belonged to this type of painting as pointillism. And it has nothing to do with the circles and specks that the artist Matthew Davis creates from Berlin. The author does not hang labels on his paintings, but believes that they are much more surreal than any others. And in this he is undoubtedly right
