The Walt Disney Company plans to direct the seventh, eighth and ninth episodes of the Star Wars franchise, as well as several separate films. This was announced by the CEO of the corporation Bob Iger.
According to Iger, the company should start implementing plans in 2015 and filmmakers will need about six years. Simon Kinberg and Larry Kasdan have already begun work on tapes that are not part of the overall saga.
According to unconfirmed data, the first character of the movie saga, about which a separate film will be shot, will be Master Yoda, the head of the Jedi Order.
Earlier it was reported that JJ Abrams, known for his work on the TV series "Lost", will direct the seventh episode of "Star Wars", as well as the continuation of the equally popular Star Trek franchise, the continuation of which - "Star Trek: Retribution" - should release in screens in May 2013. But fans of the movie saga can expect the premiere of the seventh episode of Star Wars only in May 2013. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) is working on the script for the new episode.
