Many people tend to animate their toys. Someone refers, as if to a living being, to a teddy bear, and someone - to a status car. Here is a German artist Stefan Gross and created a series sculptures "Plastination"where you can see insides of plastic toys.
For some reason, artists all over the world are drawn to show the insides of people and animals in their work. Examples include paper anatomy by Horst Kiechle, knitted biology by Emily Stoneking, or transparent origami by Takayuki Hori. Anatomical in his works and Stephen Gross. Moreover, he uses plastic toys as the basis for sculptures.
When working on his sculptures, Stefan Gross uses exclusively the objects he found on rolling pins and trash cans. These are plastic toys, broken or simply boring by the previous owners, and shapeless pieces of plastic.
With the help of the latter, Grossi creates entrails, and then shoves them inside the cut toys. After that, he gives the resulting products to heat treatment. As a result of this whole process, the sculptures of the Plastination series are born.
As Stefan Gross himself admits, the works of "Plastination" are created in order to show the danger posed by polymers and other materials created from refined petroleum. And oil itself is one of the most toxic materials on the planet!
As a result, in his work, Stefan Gross combines the pleasant and the dangerous, the beautiful and the disgusting. Unfortunately, in our world, these concepts are too close to each other!
