Some of the most exciting experiences for all visitors to Iceland are associated with the stunning natural landscapes of this country. Recognizing the importance of the relationship between the natural world and man, the American artist Rony Horn (Roni Horn) has created the Water Library in the Icelandic city of Stykkisholmur, part of which is the Water, Selected art installation.

Installation "Water, Selected" is located in the premises of the former library, located at the highest point of the city overlooking the sea. The piece consists of 24 three-meter glass columns filled with water collected from the largest glaciers around Iceland. In other words, it is melted ice. Glass refracts light and reflects it onto the floor, which is inscribed with adjectives in English and Icelandic describing different characteristics of the weather. The water contained in the columns is shown by the author as an ubiquitous and at the same time precious substance.

“When I look at water, I enter into a certain connection with it. Being more than just an object, water becomes a form - consciousness, time, materiality, human condition, everything that I want to project onto it, and everything that I want to be myself,”says Roni Horne. The installation “Water, Selected” was conceived by the author both as a sculptural work and as a community center - here you can hold any meetings or just come for relaxation and reflection.
