Looking at La Paz city from a bird's eye view (the "unofficial" capital of Bolivia, constitutional - the city of Sucre), you come to the idea that it was built as if according to the behest of J.-J. Rousseau, who believed that one must observe nature and follow the path that it indicates. This city, "overgrown" in the crater of an extinct volcano several million years ago, is famous for being one of the most unusual capitals in the world - it is located at an altitude of 3600 m above sea level.
La Paz is built in the canyon of the river of the same name, which flows through the city from northwest to southeast. The city is located in a bowl-shaped depression, surrounded by high mountains, on a high-mountain plateau. The gradually expanding city "climbs" the hills, here you can see incredible buildings that, at first glance, literally hang on the mountain slopes.
Due to its amazing location, La Paz is quite like a puff cake: the lower the houses go down above sea level, the richer their owners. The middle class live in high-rise buildings near the center, while the rich prefer the lower quarters.
La Paz is an important cultural center of Bolivia. Local attractions include the Colonial San Francisco Cathedral and San Francisco Cathedral. Murillo square deserves special attention, which is considered the "home" for political and administrative power in the country. Hundreds of different museums can be found throughout the city, the most famous are located on Jaén Street, the exterior of which retains the features of Spanish architecture.
On the site Kulturologiya.ru we have already written about another unusual city, Shibam, which, like a magical oasis, "spreads out" in the desert in the very heart of Asia!

Photos by John Fowler: only mountains can be better than mountains
Landscape shots by John Fowler are striking in their grandeur and color. The main motto of the photographer is short and laconic "light in nature", and all because John Fowler loves to catch the sun's rays through the lens, playing on spring greenery, mountain slopes, scallops of streams and waterfalls. The master's portfolio is so large that the finished pictures can be viewed for hours. We will save our readers' time and introduce them to photographs of mountainous terrain. After all, "only mountains can be better than mountains"
