They say that talented people are talented in everything. Likewise, the German artist Gerhard Mayer, originally from Nuremberg, Germany, shows remarkable talents when it comes to sculpture, installations or graphics. One of Mayer's latest projects - an original wall painting - will not leave indifferent either "physicists" or "lyricists".
The patterns that adorn the snow-white walls can be appreciated not only by connoisseurs of painting and graphics, but also by those for whom the world of numbers is dearer and more understandable to the world of art. The fact is that the artist's work was not spontaneous, and even more so chaotic - to create these seemingly completely improvised patterns, the master used a number of strict algorithms, from which he did not retreat a single step.
Mayer's works are true mastery: stunning patterns and outlines with complex transitions and play of light and shade, lines and points extending into space … All this literally boggles the imagination. As a toolkit, the artist used special drawing pens, Chinese ink and special elliptical stencils.
However, as mentioned above, Mayer is not only a great schedule. His rich and varied portfolio includes, among other things, huge jigsaw puzzles. Amazingly, one such mosaic canvas sometimes occupies almost the entire wall in the gallery space, and other art objects of the artist reach eighteen meters in length.
Often, artists get tired of the monotony of exhibition halls and bring art to the masses, arranging curious street installations and performances. Or, like the young Chinese artist Wang Yue, they decorate the trees with funny graffiti for the delight of passers-by.
