Jimmy Nelson's Before They Disappear includes a series of photographs of endangered tribes. Since 2009, the English photographer has roamed the world collecting data on forgotten peoples and their traditions.
Here is what Jimmy Nelson himself says about his excursion: “I wanted to capture endangered tribes before they are forgotten, show the world their traditions, participate in their rituals and find out how much their way of life is different from ours. Most importantly, I planned to create an ambitious aesthetic photographic document that could stand the test of time and become indispensable for contemporary ethnographers."
As a result of many years of work, the photographer has created over 500 unique photographs illustrating various tribes, cultural levels and traditions. He traveled to all countries and learned many dialects in order to attract the public to the problem of extinction of ancient cultures. However, not only tribes, but also rivers are on the verge of extinction. For example, environmentalists have long been sounding the alarm over the disappearance of swamps in South Sudan. Therefore, it is worthwhile to think once again, cutting down a tree in the forest or throwing out garbage in a clearing.
