Everyone is getting old! Even the most sexy beauties who look at us on movie screens and pages of glossy magazines. This is what the photo artist tells us about. Simone Lueck in a series of his works "The once and future queens".
Thanks to the site Kulturologia. Ru we already know that even Disney heroines have a future. Moreover, it is often a rather unenviable future. Sooner or later, time will touch upon the most popular, most desirable girls of our era, as it touched before the beauties of bygone times.
This process is revealed in a series of photographs by American photographer Simon Luek entitled “The once and future queens”. In them, he shows elderly women posing in seductive, glamorous poses.
These photos are exact copies of pictures from modern magazines, which in the original were the current celebrities - the stars of cinema, television, music. But instead of the seductive beauties from the works of Simon Luek, wrinkled old women look at the viewer. These will be the most desirable beauties in a few decades.
However, even then they will still remain stars. And the very title of the series of photographs by Simon Luek “The once and future queens” is a paraphrase of the famous quote taken from the book “The Death of Arthur” by Thomas Melory, which is traditionally translated into Russian as “The King once and for all”. Only, in this case, we are not talking about kings, but about queens.
When creating works from the series "The once and future queens", Simon Louek set himself the goal of exploring American pop culture, its obsession with the visual component and glamor. These photographs are saturated with a sense of nostalgia experienced by the women depicted in them. However, the viewer too.
Moreover, Luek basically does not pay money to his models. Indeed, for most of them, participation in the project of this photographer is the first experience of working with a professional photographer. Therefore, they are happy with only one such opportunity, which appeared in their old age.
