Rubik's Cube is the favorite game of the 80s generation, however, it does not go out of style these days. Only now it is no longer interesting to just collect the Rubik's Cube, and designers and artists go further in this matter.
It turns out that you can draw huge pictures with the help of the Rubik's Cube. The French artist Invader has been doing this kind of work for several years. Among his works you can see both frivolous, like robots, monsters from computer games, and portraits. For example, here we can see portraits of Mona Lisa and Ingress, taken in 2005 and 2006, respectively. It may seem to some that these paintings are simply made of pixels and nothing more, but it is clear that there is a lot of work behind their creation.
All these paintings are made by hand. The artist uses cubes, of which there are very, very many, like a brush - he seems to draw lines with them, from which pictures are then obtained. Of course, he does not have so many colors in his arsenal, for paintings this is extremely small. So it seems that the faces and figures are made as if from pixels. Probably, it is too bold to call this kind of creativity - art, nevertheless, the artist really creates, and he turns out very well.
The paintings will be on display in New York at the Jonathan Levine Gallery from June 27th to July 25th.
