Chinese Ai Weiwei is one of the most famous contemporary artists of Asian descent. Therefore, it is not surprising that it was he who was invited to create the first exhibition at the recently opened Misa Shin Gallery in Tokyo. Here Ai weiwei presented his work "Cube Light" ("Luminous Cube").

We already know Ai Weiwei for his work Sunflower Seeds, exhibited at London's Tate Modern gallery, which is a sea of Chinese porcelain seeds. But besides porcelain, Ai Weiwei's other passion is light. Back in 2002, he created his first light installation. Well, Cube Light is, at the moment, the largest such work of this artist.

Cube Light is a huge cube that glows from the inside. It is made of thousands of small crystal pieces suspended from a solid wall by strings attached to a metal base.

The artist was inspired to create this work by a shot from Sergei Eisenstein's film "October", where the chandelier in the palace trembles from a shot from the cruiser "Aurora", which gave rise to the revolution.

Here is the Cube Light with many crystal elements, it is, as it were, a conceptual continuation of that Eisenstein chandelier, a symbol of how fragile the power in the Western World is, based solely on big money and the desire to increase it.
