Migingo Is a tiny African island located in the waters of the largest tropical Lake Victoria. Despite being the size of a football field, the island is home to 131 people (according to the 2009 census). By the way, the infrastructure in this settlement is developed: Mingino is famous for five bars, a beauty salon and a pharmacy, tourists can stay in several hotels and even visit … a brothel.
The entire population of this unusual island is engaged in fishing. The founders of the settlement are two Kenyan fishermen, Dalmas Tembo and George Kibebe. They arrived here in 1991, when the island was deserted, only green grass and countless birds and snakes. Soon the two daredevils were joined by another 60 familiar fishermen, who had heard that the valuable Nile perch lived in the coastal waters. Within a few years sailors from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania moved here, and soon Migingo became a real center of trade.
Trade on the island is flourishing and to this day, every morning hundreds of boats dock ashore, fish exported from the island is transported to Kenya, and from there to the EU countries and beyond. The fish trade turnover amounts to millions of dollars, and all this is due to the perch-breadwinner.
In the struggle for huge fish resources, Uganda and Kenya have made territorial claims over the island. Both states are fighting to take possession of the wonderful island.
Fishmongers have had a good life for a long time, however, there are a number of difficulties that they had to face. In addition to everyday problems, many troubles were brought by pirates, who learned that local fishermen earn about $ 300 a day (for comparison, many Africans earn the same money in a month). Pirates have repeatedly ravaged the island, depriving the locals of their catch, savings or motor boats.
When the fishermen of Migingo Island turned to the government for help, the Ugandan authorities were the first to respond. They sent the naval police here, and immediately hoisted the national flag. Further, they began to levy taxes from local residents, and regularly confiscate boats and goods from Kenyan sailors.

Eastern European Sushi: Sushi with an Eastern European twist. Art project of the studio Clinic 212
The crazy popularity of such Asian fast food as sushi, rolls and other maki has gradually led to the fact that restaurants (such as) Japanese cuisine are opened in almost every village, not to mention megacities or cultural and historical centers. Moreover, those dishes that are called real Japanese cuisine on the menu are in fact an imitation, a parody of what the Japanese call "rolls". However, our traditional dishes have certainly undergone no less changes in Asian restaurants
