Turkish artist and sculptor Sakir Gokcebag discovered that toilet paper could be a good material for creating completely original installations. Fantasy took him beyond the predictable paper crafts. What Gokchebag presented is bigger and more inventive.
The “Translayers” series of the Turkish craftsman Gokchebag is a series of intricate panels and sculptures entirely made from the most prosaic material. Whether this is an attempt to perpetuate a thing whose age is so short, whether it is an ordinary creative crisis, or an attempt to laugh with the audience at a particularly sophisticated contemporary art is an open question.
Interestingly, not all artists use expensive or high-tech components to create their installations. Many of them, like Shakir, turn to the simplest elements: trash and the assortment of all-for-the-dollar stores. The young American artist, sculptor and graphic artist, Crystal Wagner, does the same. Crystal uses materials that have already been used up: she often finds parts for future installations right on the street, and sometimes she buys everything she needs in inexpensive stores.
Gokchebag admits that he always found inspiration for his work in everyday life: work, architecture, nature, geometric abstractions - everything can give an artist the impetus necessary for creativity. So, for example, he became famous in the Internet community thanks to the original project under the general name "Geometric Food" ("Geometric food"). Using a lot of imagination, Gokchebag tried to give ideal (or just unusual) shapes to fruits and berries.
