This is the installation The Big Fishes, created by environmental activists in order to demonstrate how human activities adversely affect the World Ocean - the source of life on Earth.
After all, it is no secret to anyone that the amount of garbage in the oceans of our planet is growing at such a rate that this growth is already the largest environmental problem on Earth. And artists from all over the world are trying to draw attention to this outrage. For example, Angela Pozzi, who organized an entire exhibition of her own sculptures made from plastic she found on the ocean near her home.
The installation in Rio de Janeiro is devoted to the same problem and has the same form. As the leaders of the world's twenty largest economies argue about how to make their countries even richer, build more factories and produce more goods, environmental activists are trumpeting about the dire consequences of this economic growth. The very name The Big Fishes alludes to high-status guests of Rio.
Two huge plastic fish symbolize what a huge problem for the oceans and for life on Earth in general, uncontrolled industrial production, consumption and the lack of a coherent waste disposal program are.
