The infrastructure of many Indian cities is now undergoing major transformations associated with the replacement of old systems with more modern ones. This process also affected the modernization of the water supply system, and so that the pipes prepared for laying do not lie idle, a group of local designers and architects figured out how to turn them into a work of art.
All that the authors of the idea (Urfun Lab studio) needed were, in fact, the pipes themselves and several tens of meters of colored cellophane. The future elements of the water supply were laid on top of each other in two rows, and at each pipe, one of the sides was tightened with foil. That's all! A bunch of boring concrete structures turned into a positive installation - a homemade kaleidoscope that delights passers-by and adorns the city.
Pyramids made of elements of water pipes prepared for laying underground have become a common sight in Indian cities, but they do not add attractiveness to the landscapes. Creative installations from Urfun Lab not only brought new colors to the usual landscapes, but also became an original resting place for the townspeople. And really, what is not a substitute for shops?
“We are used to seeing panoramas of cities from a bird's eye view, as a result of which a huge amount of small details are simply lost. In contrast, Urfun Lab tries to look at the city from a worm's point of view, creating small-scale installations that enrich the environment. These artworks will not affect the whole city, but it is a good example of how we can react to our immediate environment,”says one of the designers at Urfun Lab.
