The BFI London Film Festival started on October 10, this cultural event is considered one of the most important international festivals. It is held on the territory of Great Britain and in its importance is equated to the Venice, Cannes and other festivals.

This film festival has been held since 1956, its program includes animation, short, archival and documentary films. This year the London Film Festival has already been held 62 times. 225 films from 77 countries were selected to participate in this event. For many films, this international festival will become a launching pad from which it will be possible to go to the Golden Globe and Oscars in the future.

At the last BFI London Film Festival, the main award was given to the film by Andrei Zvyagintsev called Dislike. This time, 10 films will fight for the main award of the film festival, including: "Birds of passage" (Colombia), "Destroyer" (United States of America), "Happy Lazarus" (Italy), "Sunset" (Hungary) and “It's too late to die young” (Chile). From Great Britain the drama with the title "Happy New Year, Colin Burstead" will compete for the main prize, as well as a mystical thriller called "In the Cloth".

Six films produced by Russian directors will be screened during this important international festival. These included the film by Kirill Serebrennikov "Summer", Alexei German Jr. "Dovlatov", the silent film by Friedrich Ermler "Fragment of the Empire" and others. These films were not destined to get into the main competition program.

The BFI London Film Festival program included two works by Russian animators at once, which are designed for a young viewer. The first such work was the painting "Vivat, Musketeers!" from the director Anton Dyakov, and the second - "I want to live in the zoo" from Evgenia Golubeva.
