They say that on one shoulder we each have an angel, and on the other - the devil. And both whisper different thoughts into a person's ears, push them to different deeds - one to good and noble, the second to mean and evil. Which "shoulder" you listen to, which voice will sound louder in your head, so you will be. Apparently, wanting to strengthen the positive, to increase the angel's chances of winning, the American artist Gloria Winerknown by her pseudonym Mimi, has been working on his own project for many years Mimidollsmaking stunningly cute and positive Tild dolls with angel wings, and other rag dolls. Like mummies with their Mummi-dol, Mimi dolls have their own Mimi-dol, where they all live together, so different and so the same, a little funny and naive, possessing that kind simplicity that makes you smile and makes your heart warm and flourish. I would like to grab this awkward rag angel in my hands, and squeeze it, crush it, examine it, feeling how warmth spreads throughout the body, and the soul returns to a carefree and sunny childhood. And already for this, the author can be given a deep bow.
Gloria Wiener has been a rag doll designer for nearly 28 years. During this time, hundreds of various dolls came out of her hands, both for children and adults, both collectible and mind-blowingly expensive, and funny souvenir toys that can easily be pinned to a bag or scarf as an original decoration.
Gloria graduated from the National Academy of Arts and Design in New York, studied at the School of Visual Arts, and studied sculpture at Monmouth College. In addition, the needlewoman is a member of many puppeteer associations, including being an honorary member of some of them. Very often Gloria conducts master classes on making dolls from fabric, but much more information, as well as some of the video lessons, can be obtained on her personal website.
