In one of the buildings in Rome, which now belongs to the Bank of Italy, they decided to carry out restoration. During these events, a unique discovery was made - under the new cover, unique frescoes were discovered, the author of which is Giacomo Balla. This is an Italian master who is considered to be the founder of Italian futurism. Previously, the works that were found during the restoration work of the building were considered completely lost.
Representatives of the Italian Central Bank said that during the restoration of the building, the craftsmen discovered frescoes that occupy an area of 80 square meters. The original paintings were found not only on the walls of the building, but on its ceiling. The frescoes are only on the ground floor. It is worth remembering that in the early twenties of the last century, this building housed a futuristic cabaret called Bal Tic Tac. The furnishing and decoration of this futuristic cabaret, which was the first of its kind in Rome, was handled by Giacomo Balla himself.
Over the past century, the building, which now belongs to the Bank of Italy, has undergone several renovations, and never once have any traces of frescoes been found, and that is why they began to be considered lost forever. And only now the masters who were invited to carry out the restoration managed to find on the ground floor partially preserved frescoes of the famous Italian master who worked in a futuristic style. They were found under stretch ceilings, wallpaper and layers of paint.
Now work is underway to restore the found frescoes. The best masters take part in the restoration, their actions are monitored by the Special Directorate of Archeology and Art of Rome. Those who wish will be able to see the restored futuristic frescoes by Giacomo Balla at the end of 2021. It was then that their opening is scheduled, immediately after the opening of the Museum of the Bank of Italy, which will occupy a room with recently discovered unique frescoes.
Giacomo Balla was born in Turin in 1871. He is known as an artist, screenwriter and sculptor, one of the founders of futurism. His canvases are included in the collections of museums in New York, Turin, London, Venice and Paris. This artist is especially known for his desire to depict movement.
