"Functionality Kills the Fun" (Functionality Kills the Fun) is the name of a new daring collection of unusual furniture created by the designer Lennart Van Uffelenwho is firmly convinced that modern society has overestimated the importance of practicality, thereby blocking the path to the development of a creative creative idea.
Furniture and interior items created within the framework of the new collection fully reflect the worldview and philosophy of the author, who explained such an extravagant look of his brainchild by the fact that things become much more interesting if they lose their original neat appearance or cannot fully fulfill their intended purpose. … This idea was the impetus for the release of unusual "broken" furniture.
Drowning chair
Dividing the most ordinary chair into two parts, Lennart created an amazing piece of furniture in the form of a chair drowning in the wall or floor. It is made of mahogany and can be a wonderful wall decoration in one of the rooms.
Bookcase without books
This original imitation of a bookcase that a chandelier fell on was designed for Les Petits Riens, an organization that fights poverty in Belgium by selling second-hand items. Crafted from solid oak, this bookcase, if you can call it that, is especially prized for the sense of humor with which it was made.
Mirror with nail
This is perhaps the most practical and functional piece of furniture in the entire collection. The mirror still gives a reflection, despite the numerous cracks left by the nail, with which it is mounted to the surface of the wall.
Ax table
The original design of the table with an ax instead of one of the legs is a direct reflection of the well-known speech turnover - "acute angle". The table is made of natural wood and the ax blade is made of stainless steel.
Old chest of drawers
An old chest of drawers, divided into two parts, is unlikely to be a suitable place to store things, but it can become an original piece of furniture, decorating, for example, a living room.
Unusual furniture and interior items do not always have to be functional and practical. Sometimes an interesting idea is enough to create an amazing creation.
