Make music, not war. Something like this can be explained the life position of the Mexican sculptor Pedro Reyes, who decided to turn dangerous weapons into original musical instruments, thereby replacing death and suffering with music. The result of this peacekeeping mission was a collection of 50 unusual musical instruments that can not only be admired, but also used as intended. Pedro Reyes collected from the Mexicans about 1,500 copies of various firearms, which he then subjected to a long procedure of purification and rebirth, as if expelling the devil from rifles and crossbows, which took the lives of dozens or even hundreds of people. Having introduced a group of six musicians to his art project, the sculptor turned the cleaned and reborn "trunks" into drums and flutes, guitars and balalaikas, violins and cellos, and other wind and string instruments. And if necessary, a small musical group can be equipped with this set of instruments.
The author and his assistants have been working on an art project to melt "swords into plowshares" for more than two weeks. According to them, the art project turned out to be not only original and creatively enjoyable, but also resonant, sharp, topical, challenging. Mexico is notorious for its drug mafia and armed showdowns between warring clans, because weapons are in almost every home. So such a demonstration of one's position in life is worth a lot. Especially when you consider the social significance of Pedro Reyes' art project, its scale and level of implementation.
Pedro Reyes' art project dates back to 2008, and today the sculptor is responsible for 6,700 deadly "trunks" transformed into stylish, exclusive musical instruments. See the collection titled Imagine can be found on Pedro Reyes' website.
