A series of sculptures by Anthony Gormley entitled "Critical Mass" is currently on display at the De La Warr Pavilion in the British city of Bexhill. Sixty human bodies in one-to-one size, concentrated in a rather small space, create the critical mass.
The sculptor Anthony Gormley is already known to regular readers of our site. We have repeatedly talked about the new projects of this unusual creator, who repeatedly repeats his own body in various variations and from various materials.
All sixty sculptures (five casts of twelve different shapes) from the Critical Mass series are also based on the proportions of Antony Gormley's own body. These sculptures are displayed in a rather small outdoor area of the De La Warr Pavilion. This constitutes the critical mass.
Anthony Gormley with this work draws the attention of viewers to the excessive crowding of people in the world, its overpopulation. This is what, according to the sculptor, leads to cataclysms. Moreover, both natural (fires, floods, etc.) and historical (wars, social conflicts, genocides).
The "Critical Mass" exhibit at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill will be open until September 26 this year.

Deconstructing Your Own Body by Antony Gormley
Antony Gormley is one of the most famous contemporary English sculptors. Moreover, the sources of inspiration for him are his own body.
